BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
Santi Romero has worked since 1993 as architect at the Library Services Management Unit of the Diputació de Barcelona. His work, which focuses on consultation for, and control of, projects and works for the public libraries in the province, has involved him in interventions on more than 150 libraries for most of which the fu
rnishing project was also undertaken.
He has been involved in special library projects in other parts of Spain.
He has given lectures and courses on library architecture for public and private bodies throughout Spain for both architects and librarians
He is author of the book:
Library Architecture: Recommendations for a comprehensive
Since 2005 he has been a member of the IFLA Library Building and Equipment Section Standing Committee
Since 2008 until 2011, in his capacity as a Spanish
expert, he has been a member of the international working group “Qualitative conditions and basic statistics for library buildings
(space, function and design)” (ISO/TR 11219) of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
